The Craft Guild gets set for the Restaurant Show 2012

Written by: Admin
The Craft Guild of Chefs will once again be heavily involved in this year's Restaurant Show, which runs from October 8-10 at Earls Court 2 in London.
It will be exhibiting on stand H110 at the show, while at the same time organising the National Chef of the Year, Young National Chef of the Year and, new to the Competition Theatre for 2012, the Event Caterers Team Challenge (ECats). On October 8, the ECats will showcase the best private caterers operating across the UK, testing them in the delivery of corporate and private events, weddings and outdoor catering. The ECats challenge eight teams to demonstrate culinary, front of house and concept/table design prowess in response to a brief. Craft Guild vice president Steve Munkley explained that the reason it had got behind ECats was because chefs in this sector can often be overlooked because they don't have a restaurant or hotel to showcase their talents. "The chefs have all been set a brief based on a real outside catering event making the competition the perfect platform for them to show those across the industry just what they can really do," he said. On October 9, the UK's top chefs will be battling it out to win the National Chef of the Year title, while up and coming stars in the industry will be competing to take the Young National Chef of the Year title, in two highly anticipated live finals within the Competition Theatre.
