Caterers urged to take part in Bacon Connoisseurs’ Week

Written by: Admin
To celebrate Bacon Connoisseurs’ Week (18-24 March 2013), caterers can get involved by promoting their meals using free campaign material through BPEX.

Research has found that consumers munch their way through well over 760m out of home (OOH) servings of bacon each year.

For chefs and caterers, having a variety of cured, smoked and traditional bacons in the kitchen is essential to pack flavour into dishes and deliver customer satisfaction.

The Week will drive awareness for bacon, its versatility and encourage consumers to look for quality assured bacon, including Red Tractor, when shopping and eating out.

The campaign material includes large posters and door vinyls, as well as recipe books complete with six inspirational recipes using bacon in new ways.

In addition, there is a poster especially for catering colleges and training kitchens to showcase the many cured cuts of pork, from bacon and pancetta to collar and gammon. This will be a particularly useful tool to demonstrate its value and use across different meal occasions.

All material can be ordered from BPEX’s foodservice trade manager, Tony Goodger, who said: “Bacon is consistently one of our top rated foods and with quality in the spotlight, Bacon Connoisseurs’ Week is an ideal opportunity to highlight the assured supply chains that help deliver it to customer’s plates.

“The eye-catching promotional material should be invaluable whether you’re introducing new bacon dishes or simply just want to shout about your quality bacon. It would be a shame to miss out, so order some while stocks last!”
