Calling all chefs for the South Asian Chef Challenge 2011

Written by: Admin
Entries are now being sought for this year's South Asian Chef Challenge (SACC). Talented chefs have a chance to represent their region and become one of the eight finalists in the contest being held at Leeds City College on October 24.
Pioneered by the Aagrah Group's managing director and executive chef, Mohammed Aslam (pictured), seven years ago, the contest calls for competitors to produce South Asian dishes consisting of a starter, a seafood dish, two main courses using chicken, lamb or vegetables – one as a healthy option and the other as an innovative dish. All the dishes have to be creative with chefs using their own original recipes to win the title. The overall winner will receive £1,000, the runner up £500 and £250 for third place. The three lucky winners will receive their trophies at Aagrah's glittering black tie annual charity business dinner on the same day as the final. The contest attracts entries from across the UK with last year's crown being won by Shabu Natarajan, chef de partie at the Mezbaan South Indian Restaurant Edinburgh, previously of Radisson & Intercontinental Hotels, Dubai. • For further information, contact Jim Armstrong on 01274 530880 or visit www.saccuk.com
