Michelin-starred Indian chef Rohit Ghai is to enter the street food arena this weekend (8 December), when he opens his brand new concept KoolCha at Boxpark Wembley.

Specialising in Indian comfort food, KoolCha is co-founded by Ghai and his business partner Abhishake Sangwan who together headed London-based restaurants Trishna, Gymkhana, Hoppers and Bombay Bustle.

They also ran Jamavar (X), which Rohit was awarded a Michelin star for after just ten months of opening.

He said: “I have had the great fortune to work with Abhishake Sangwan over the last decade and we both felt ready for the next challenge.

“KoolCha will be a new Pan-Indian restaurant concept that promises to reinvigorate the Indian food space. We are excited to launch KoolCha at Boxpark Wembley, which will provide a great platform for KoolCha to flourish.”

Offering an all-day menu “reminiscent of (executive chef Ghai’s) childhood memories,” dishes will include: North Indian ‘Kulcha’ flatbreads and family recipes given a ‘contemporary’ twist, alongside ‘exotic’ cocktails, hot and cold fruit teas and Indian beers.

Boxpark founder and chief executive, Roger Wade, added: “We’re thrilled to announce that KoolCha is launching at Boxpark Wembley.

“KoolCha’s chef Rohit has worked at an impressive number of world-class restaurants and we have no doubt that KoolCha will be no different.”
