Matt Van Wyck: Winner of the Pub Restaurant Chef Award

Matt Van Wyck from The Rose and Crown, East Sussex won the Pub Restaurant Chef Award at this year's annual Craft Guild of Chefs' Awards held on the 16th June.
As chef patron of The Rose and Crown in Mayfield, East Sussex, Matt Van Wyck has become a well known character with his local community, having transformed the pub into an "oasis of fresh produce, cooked to order, making full use of local suppliers".

Receiving numerous nominations from loyal customers, he is praised not only for his food, but for turning the pub into a "centre for the local population" who enjoy the "welcoming atmosphere, service and food". He has also arranged many events that have helped bring the community together, from celebrating sporting events to holding a birthday party for his dog.
