Young Restaurant Team of the Year reveals semi-finalists

The semi-finalists for the tenth annual UK Young Restaurant Team of the Year competition have been revealed after an intense round of judging and deliberations.

The semi-finals will  take place on Tuesday 28th March at the Gordon Ramsay Academy in Woking and a stellar line up of judges have been assembled. All teams will be accommodated at a local hotel and enjoy a networking evening at Gordon Ramsay Street Burger Restaurant prior to the competition day.

Judges for the semi-finals also include Leigh Myers chef director at Wellocks;  James Benger development chef at Welbilt; Rupert Rowley development chef at MSK Ingredients; Claire Bosi and special guest judge James 'Jocky' Petrie from the Gordon Ramsay Group.

Vicky Enderson, chair of judges and director at MSK Ingredients, commented: "The quality of entries this year have exceeded expectations and it was a very difficult decision to select our eight teams for the semi-finals." 

The teams selected for the semi-finals include:

  • Belfast Metropolitan College 
  • Loughborough College 
  • Suffolk New College 
  • Coleg Y Cymoedd
  • North Warwickshire and South Leicester College
  • Cheshire College South and West Crewe
  • Sheffield College 
  • Eastleigh College 

The Grand Final will take place at the Skills for Chefs Conference on 28th June and Henrique Sa Pessoa, a two Michelin starred chef from Lisbon will join the judging team. The competition is also supported by the Savoy Educational Trust.
