Inter Island Challenge 2013

Written by: Admin
Following the success of last year’s inaugural competition, teams from Jersey and Guernsey will be competing again this year to be named winning island.

Last year Guernsey’s team lifted the Peter Queree trophy, named after well-known former head of catering at the Highlands College Jersey who passed away last year, so the friendly rivalry between the two islands will be in full swing for this year’s challenge.

The competition takes place in the Academy Restaurant at Highlands College Jersey on October 21 and 22. Organised by the Craft Guild of Chefs, each team will include at least one student chef reflecting the Guild’s focus on promoting new talent within the profession.

They will be required to create a five-course meal with canapés for 55 covers from a mystery basket of products and serve it at two evening events running consecutively.  The teams will have to impress a judging panel of top London chefs plus 55 discerning diners with their menus, with the winning team being announced at the second dinner on October 22.

Judges include London-based chefs Henry Brosi, executive chef at The Dorchester; Paul Gayler, executive chef at The Lanesborough; and Andrew Bennett, executive chef and food and beverages manager at The Sheraton Park Lane Hotel.
