TV chef Brian Turner CBE has received an honorary degree from the University College Birmingham (UCB) for his work with the university’s College of Food.

He was presented with the award at UCB’s graduation ceremony at Symphony Hall, Birmingham. It is one of the highest honours the university can bestow.

Turner, the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts, has led a number of competitions and cooking masterclasses for further and higher education culinary students at UCB.

He has also sat on the judging panel for contests hosted by the university, including the recent 2017 Master of Culinary Arts awards.

On receiving the Honorary Fellowship, Turner said it was a “wonderful, emotional evening” and his award was a “privilege”.
