Who will become the Craft Guild of Chefs 2012 winner of the People's Choice Award? That decision will depend on the online voting that has now gone live for the four shortlisted nominees.
The award was introduced by the Guild last year to celebrate the unsung heroes in the chef world and recognise a person who has made an outstanding contribution to the industry as a whole and made a big impact on their colleagues.

Last year's online voting was a great success, with more than 1,100 votes cast by the deadline that led to Craft Guild vice president John Retallick winning the award.

This year votes are being sought for:

Geoff Acott - national treasurer of the Craft Guild and former captain at the Defence Food Services School
Paul Gayler - executive chef of the Lanesborough Hotel
Peter Hazzard - from Chaddlewood Consultancy and former executive director of food services at Sodexo
Michael Kitts - senior chef lecturer at Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management

Supporters are allowed one online vote for their favourite. All votes will be carefully vetted to ensure there are no duplicates, and the winner of the People's Choice Award will be announced along with the 15 other award category winners at the aptly themed 'Going for Gold' 2012 Craft Guild of Chefs Awards ceremony at Wembley Stadium on Wednesday, June 13.
