Tony Murphy from Eurest won the Development Chef Award at this year's annual Craft Guild of Chefs' Awards held on the 16th June.
Having worked in some of the country's top hotels and restaurants for 10 years before joining the Compass Group in 1992, Tony Murphy puts this wealth of experience to good use in his current role as executive development chef for the contract caterer.
Developing a portfolio of products and concepts for the company, he has been praised for "re-establishing the importance of food" within the business. More recently he developed the 'steam concept', which is now not only used to serve up to 4,000 meals a day in hospitals and schools across the UK, but is being implemented in more than five other European countries.
