May/June 2015: Welcome

Written by: Admin
A crisp and sunny start to the day clearly means we are well in to spring
and, as ever, the Craft Guild of Chefs’ head office feels like a productive and busy place to be.

There’s been a flurry of activity at the beginning of our 50th Golden Anniversary year. All the hard work and effort put in to the canapé competition by our eventual winners, the City of Glasgow College students, came to fruition on Tuesday 21 April at St James’s Palace when they received a rousing reception from all our guests.

Hosted by Her Royal Highness the Countess of Wessex, the event drew Craft Guild members and business partners together for Champagne and a selection of the winning canapés created by the Glasgow students.

Such is the popularity of our Royal Patron that the canapé competition was featured in Hello! magazine, although when I mentioned this proudly to my father he informed me that he only ever reads the Times.

It’s a busy year and the planning and final touches are taking place for all of our forthcoming events. With so many that are nationally recognised, it’s all too easy to forget the level of effort and detail that goes in to each and every one of them, from the launch of National Chef of the Year though to informing the lucky few that they have made it on to the shortlist for our Craft Guild of Chefs Awards. To the ‘chosen ones’, I wish you the best of luck.

Looking forward to seeing you all at the Hilton Park Lane Hotel on 15 June!

Christopher Basten
National Chairman
