We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Head Chef to lead the catering operation for the halls of residence at UCL. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a vibrant student environment and grow within a high profile University.

With excellent craft skills and flexibility to produce a range of requirements, you will ensure the efficient preparation of high quality food for student outlets and events.

Role Responsibility

  • Lead the preparation and delivery of quality food for up to 800 students across breakfast and dinner plus a weekend brunch service and events.
  • Ensure food provided is to the correct standard and as the service offer.
  • Ensure all food is prepared correctly and in particular in respect of dietary requirements and allergens. Compile Allergen folders for all menus and offerings
  • Manage the catering team to ensure that all areas are prepared and ready for the appropriate service and times to ensure that all service standards and company initiatives are met.
  • Order and control stock levels and administration
  • Manage all aspects of Health & Safety and Food Hygiene
  • Ensure financial documentation, costings and accountancy of the unit (and those from suppliers) is accurate and within agreed budgeted levels

Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience in a similar Head Chef role, with excellent craft skills
  • Industry acumen and knowledge of external catering developments and innovations
  • Good communication skills and ability to communicate at all levels
  • Good financial awareness
  • Personal innovation and passion for quality food
  • Experience working in a standards/compliance environment
