Winterbotham Darby is an award-winning supplier of high quality continental food products to the UK foodservice and retail market.  Established in 1962 we have been at the forefront of categories like continental meats, chilled olives, antipasti and continental morning goods that have fundamentally changed the eating habits of the UK.  As well as our Deli Solutions and Alatoni manufacturing sites in the UK, we work closely with over 120 partnering production sites across Europe. Our value-added solutions for customers offer market-leading consumer insight and category management, technical expertise, field-to-fork traceability, high welfare options, all underpinned by ethical and responsible sourcing.

With a strong focus on NPD we keep ahead of the trends to ensure our customers are at the forefront of the UK eating out market.  Recent examples of this include our Vivera range, which is a vegetarian and Vegan range.  With the rise of the flexitarian consumer, this range enables our customers to deliver a complete meat-replacement solution that does not compromise on taste, texture or quality.

Across our olive and antipasti category we have complete visibility of the growing, processing and manufacturing stages. This allows us to have a thorough knowledge of the end-to-end supply chain, including key labour sourcing and environmental sustainability issues. Increasingly, this is becoming essential for UK customers. We are a member of SEDEX and a Stronger Together partner, committed to tackling hidden labour exploitation in our supply chain.

We are passionate about improving animal welfare and our European Farm Partnership has been the driving force in delivering significant advances in farm animal welfare.  We have challenged existing European farm standards since 1999 to achieve best practise.  In 2016 we won, with our long-term Italian partner, a Good Pig Award at the Compassion in World Farming (CIWF) awards – a first in Europe.  In 2018 we gained UKAS accreditation for the first pan-European standard for pig welfare – written by our animal welfare specialists.  This was shortly before we were awarded a Special Recognition Award by CIWF to acknowledge ‘outstanding innovation, commitment or achievement in a particular area of farm animal welfare.’

Our Foodservice eating out offering has an extensive product range that caters for all menu occasions from starters – antipasti and tapas; to main – ingredients; to desserts – tarts.

This range is available in foodservice-ready packs, pots and platters.
