Pidy adds festive flair to menus

Written by: Edward Waddell
Pastry manufacturer Pidy has launched a Christmas tree shaped vol-au-vent to help chefs add a festive flair to their menus.

The vol-au-vent Christmas tree is the right size for an individual starter and can be packed with sweet or savoury fillings. Pidy uses 100% natural ingredients to produce their ‘gourmet’ pastries.

Fabien Levet, commercial manager at Pidy UK, said: “Crisp pastry with crowd-pleasing fillings is the perfect appetiser for serving meat eaters and vegetarians at any Christmas gathering, party or event. The best thing about vol-au-vents is that they’re so versatile.

“Whether you keep them traditional or think outside the box with creative fillings, the all-butter recipe of our puff pastry is the perfect canvas. We pride ourselves on using the finest ingredients and traditional baking methods that bring ingenuity, imagination and technical excellence to our products.”

Pidy has relaunched the Student Catering Challenge to give students the opportunity to explore more products from the Pidy range. The overall winner will be awarded a lunchtime meal for two at Belmond Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons, £200 worth of catering vouchers and they will receive a trophy.

The Christmas tree vol-au-vent is available at Pidy wholesalers and distributors in the bakery, foodservice and industrial sectors.
