June 2017: Welcome

24/01/2018 12:01
Another very busy few months have passed, most recently we held the Craft Guild of Chefs Awards at the Westminster Park Plaza.

Some truly amazing talent was recognised and rewarded for their hard work and continued commitment to this great industry, in front of numerous legends, stalwarts and industry gods.

The paper judging is done and the semi-finalists are battling it out in Sheffield and London for places in the finals of National and Young National Chef of the Year, taking place at the Restaurant Show in October.

The 15th Graduate Awards for kitchen and pastry is also underway with 35 chefs identified and shortlisted.

The Wessex and Three Counties Salons both saw numerous entries and some great dishes executed, with gold metals awarded accordingly.

The Catey’s judging has taken place and the Chef category will again be sponsored by the Craft Guild of Chefs. I am very much looking forward to presenting this award in July.

The Universal Cookery and Food Festival is taking shape with exhibitors, sponsors and delegates now booking for this year’s event in Padstow. We have evolved, amended and changed the format again to keep this festival at the forefront of events to attend. Also, Skills for Chefs is just around the corner and the Craft Guild has sponsored both National Chef of the Year, James Divine, and Young National Chef of the Year, Ruth Hansom, to attend this year’s event. You’ll find more details on both these events within the pages of this issue so please do take a look.
