Industry charity, Hospitality Action, raised £40,000 during its inaugural Rugby Legends Dinner last week (9 April), held at Deer Park Country House Hotel (Devon).

With 200 guests in attendance, the event saw UK chefs - all from or with links to the west country – prepare and cook a three course meal, including: a beetroot terrine from Jude Kereama (Kota restaurant); smoked fish platter and flatbread from Nathan Outlaw of Outlaw’s Fish Kitchen; and stuffed saddle of lamb with pressed potato and wild garlicby Josh Eggleton of The Pony & Trap.

Alongside other chefs - Dominic Chapman (The Beehive), Guy Owen (The Idle Rocks), Paul Ainsworth (Paul Ainsworth at Number 6) and Michael Wignall (formerly of Gidleigh Park) – a host of rugby union “superstars” were also present to entertain guests with tales from on and off the pitch.
