Kikkoman Masters 2019 now open

Written by: Katie Imms
Soy sauce manufacturer Kikkoman is calling on professional chefs to enter its 2019 Kikkoman Masters, to be in with the chance of winning a seven-day trip to Japan.

Entries must be submitted by 28 June and detail their two courses made using Kikkoman naturally brewed soy sauce.

Alongside Craft Guild vice president, David Mulcahy, this year’s judging panel includes chefs Mark Edwards, Simon Hulstone, Brian Turner and 2018 winner, Fergus Wilford, plus more.

They will whittle entries down to 10 finalists, who will go head-to-head in a 90-minute live cook-off at The Restaurant Show (30 September) where the winner will be decided.

Kikkoman UK general manager, Bing-Yu Lee, said: “Last year (the Kikkoman Masters) was very successful with some excellent chefs cooking in the final.

“This year we have adjusted the criteria slightly to include a vegetarian starter and ensure that allergens are highlighted in recipes.

“Our 2018 winner, Fergus Wilford, is just back from his trip to Japan and he will be sharing highlights with finalists.”
