Sodexo has a fantastic opportunity for a Chef Manager to join a prestigious client at its UK and European headquarters in Guildford.

You will be required to manage and support a team of two individuals of a small site.

The site is an attractive, authentic environment with a great operation and friendly customers. The restaurant has attractive aesthetics, free coffee for customers and the service includes breakfast, lunch, salad bar and hospitality.

There is a big focus on health and wellbeing and we support initiatives such as free fruit on Monday for our customers.

You will have responsibility of ordering, planning of food, financial system input, and utilising a system that provides new recipes with health driven food offers.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone to join our prestigious client site. We offer subsidised meals to our employees, free parking, and an opportunity to develop and be innovative around food offerings.

Your hours will be Monday to Friday, 7.30am to 4.00pm with very occasional weekend work required.

We are offering a salary of £24,000 to £26,000 dependant on experience and our interview process will consist of a two-stage interview with a trade test.

Role Responsibility

  • Oversee all aspects of the preparation of food service areas and presentation of food to the notified standard
  • To prepare all food with due care and attention, particularly in regard to customers’ special dietary requirements
  • Promote a good company image to customers and guests
  • Ensure financial documentation and accountancy of the catering department is accurate and within agreed budget levels
  • To provide hospitality services, liaise with customers and ensure hospitality requirements are met within the agreed timelines and to the correct costings
  • Communicate with the team through regular “team huddles”
  • Assist in stock rotation control, first in, first out, reducing waste and driving sales
  • To be responsible for fair scheduling of work within the team and managing direct reports time keeping breaks and behaviours as per company policies
  • Maintain excellent client relationships & communicate with the day-to-day client at every opportunity


The Ideal Candidate


  • Excellent catering skills
  • Proven experience in managing and leading a catering team
  • Proven track record in innovation of services, health and wellbeing being a key driver
  • Industry acumen and knowledge of external catering developments and innovations
  • Strong financial understanding and demonstrable budgeting management
  • Experienced in adhering to and driving company initiatives
  • Strong communication and negotiating skills
  • Experience in working in a standards / compliance environment
  • Ability to adhere to all health and safety practices
  • Team Player
  • High levels of personal hygiene and appearance


  • Food safety level three qualification
  • Knowledge of Company IT systems and procedures
